This summer, we are intentionally creating a more distraction-free environment so campers can fully engage with God, with one another, and with the experience of camp.
Throughout Scripture, we see that God often speaks most clearly when we step away from noise and busyness. Camp has always been a place set apart — a space where students can grow in faith, build deep friendships, and experience the beauty of God’s
creation without distraction.
To protect that space, we are making the following updates to our phone policy:
Kids Camp & Middle School Camp – Completely Phone Free
For Kids Camp and Middle School Camp, camp will be fully phone-free.
Campers may not bring:
- Cell phones
- Smartwatches
- Tablets
- Handheld gaming devices
- Any personal electronic communication devices
If a device is brought to camp, it will be collected and securely stored until the end of the session.
Our heart behind this policy is simple:
When screens go away, students lean in — to worship, to friendships, to cabin conversations, to campfires, and to what the Lord may be doing in their hearts.
High School Camp – Strongly Encouraged to Go Phone Free
For High School Camp, we are strongly encouraging students to leave their phones at home this summer.
We believe high school students are capable of rising to this challenge and embracing a distraction-free week. This year will serve as a transition year, as High School Camp will become fully phone-free next summer.
Students who bring phones will be expected to keep them put away during programmed activities, worship, and small groups. Leaders will provide clear guidance upon arrival.
Our desire is not control — it is freedom. Freedom from comparison, from constant notifications, and from distractions that can interfere with what God wants to do during the week.
Communication with Parents
We understand that being unplugged can feel like a big step. Please know:
- Campers can send letters home.
- Families may send letters or emails through the camp office.
- In urgent situations, parents may contact the camp office at any time.
- If needed, our staff will contact families directly.
Our trained staff and counselors are present 24/7 and are committed to caring for your camper’s physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
Why We’re Doing This
As a Christian camp, our mission is to help young people grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ.
Distraction-free space allows for:
- Deeper worship
- More meaningful conversations
- Stronger friendships
- Increased confidence and independence
- Greater awareness of God’s presence
Some of the most powerful moments at camp happen when students are fully present — sitting around a campfire, praying with cabin mates, or reflecting quietly after chapel.
We believe an unplugged week creates room for the Holy Spirit to work in ways that constant connectivity simply does not.
